I grew up in the rural country side where my imagination was cultivated as surely as any crops. Local farmers in the community told stories to pass the routine of daily chores (and new stories were added regularly, thanks to a particularly adventurous neighbor who always welcomed me and my siblings in his endeavors). When summer days were not spent in farm projects, they were instead put towards the development and play of a variety of outdoor games that would last until the sun went down.

My interest in longer, written stories came from a steady stream of books I chugged through during the colder months of the year, and a great literature selection in my homeschool curriculum.

I still enjoy reading (though perhaps I do more listening to books these days) continue to be inspired by the books I read. My hope is that my books can capture the heart of those stories told to lighten the load of a hot day on the farm but with the imagination of the games I was inspired by as I kid.
